Working visit of Baiba Braže, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, in Luxembourg
On 17 October, Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, received Baiba Braže, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, on a working visit to Luxembourg.
This visit is part of the strengthening of relations between the two countries, particularly after the state visit in Latvia in March 2023, which marked 100 years of diplomatic relations between Latvia and Luxembourg, followed by the official visit of Minister Bettel to Latvia in July 2024.
Minister Bettel and his Latvian counterpart discussed key bilateral issues, including the potential for economic cooperation. The development of cooperation in the field of space and satellite technologies was discussed, a particularly important area in the context of strengthening Europe's strategic autonomy and capabilities.
The two ministers also discussed major international issues. On this occasion, Minister Bettel reaffirmed the importance of a strong and united European Union on the international stage.
As part of her visit, Minister Braže visited the European Court of Auditors, met with SES and satellite operator GovSat, and held discussions with the Latvian community in Luxembourg, which numbers is nearly 800 people.
