Visit of Mr Félix Braz, Minister of Justice of Luxembourg, to Warsaw

Andrzej Halicki and Félix Braz exchanged views on the reform of data protection legislation. This reform will be a priority for the Luxembourgish Presidency. Minister Braz underlined his support for the Latvian Presidency in reaching an agreement on the regulation in the Council until June 2015. The Luxembourgish Presidency could then start negotiations with the European Parliament in order to finalise the reform.

During the meeting with Cezary Grabarczyk, the subjects of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, the criminal procedural guarantees and the accession of the EU to the European Convention on Human Rights were discussed.

The Ministers also discussed the two proposals for regulations on matrimonial property regimes and the property consequences of registered partnerships. The objective of those proposals is to offer higher legal security and predictability by clearly establishing, common rules throughout the EU, regarding relevant authorities, applicable law and the recognition of decisions and authentic acts as well as to guarantee the free movement of decisions regarding matrimonial property regimes and property consequences of registered partnerships. Minister Braz underlined that the Luxembourgish Presidency will try to find an agreement on these politically sensitive dossiers which must be adopted by unanimous vote.
