Publié le vendredi 28 août 2015

On 28 August 2015, the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Mr Georges Faber and Mrs Barbara Faber-Mohr attended the ceremonies commemorating the 71 anniversary of the liquidation of the Ghetto in Łódź (Ghetto Litzmannstadt). Local and regional authorities as well as the Ambassador of Israel in Poland and Luxembourg’s Honorary Consul in Łódź, Mr. Wojciech Wolf, were also in attendance. In the course of the ceremonies, Ambassador Faber lit  a candle at the Jewish cemetery in Łódź and laid a wreath at the Radegast Station memorial to pay tribute over 200.000 Jews, including more than 300 from Luxembourg, who passed through the Łódź Ghetto before being deported to the Nazi death camps. Less than 900 survived at the Ghetto and were liberated by Soviet troops on 19 January 1945.
