The Embassy

L1020882 OK

The building that shelters today the Embassy of Luxembourg to Poland was built in 1938, probably according to the plans of Stefan Kozinski. Inspired by the Italian functionalist architecture of the time, of which several examples could be found dating from the immediate pre-war period in Warsaw and especially in the district of Mokotów, the building has partly escaped from the devastations of the 2nd World War, at least what could be seen from the outside.

On the other hand, the interior was reorganized several times, washing away the remains of the architecture of origin. During the years 2005/2006, under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works of Luxembourg, the architect Philip Vanherrewege and his company JPM concluded important works of restoration which restored to the building its seal of origin, and a new page in its history begun. The different works of art of the rising generation of Luxembourg and Polish artists, who left in the interiors their touch of decoration, represent a new way of the diplomatic dialogue between the two countries.
